A 41-year-old tennis legend is making waves at the Doha tournament, proving that age is just a number! Vera Zvonareva, a qualifier and a former top-ranked player, has shocked the tennis world with her recent victories. Zvonareva, currently ranked 584th in the world, has pulled off an incredible comeback, defeating two top-100 players in a row. Her latest victory, a stunning 2-6 6-2 6-3 win over 17-year-old Peyton Stearns, has left everyone in awe.

After beating Zhang Shuai and Magdalena Frech in the qualifying event, Zvonareva's comeback journey continued on Sunday. Stearns, full of youthful energy, dominated the early stages, but Zvonareva's experience and resilience shone through.
The 2010 Wimbledon and US Open finalist fought back, breaking Stearns twice in the second set and then dominating the decider. It was a two-hour battle, but Zvonareva's determination prevailed.
This is Zvonareva's first appearance in a WTA 1000 main draw since 2023, and she's making the most of it. Her next opponent will be the winner of the match between No. 10 seed Victoria Mboko and Marie Bouzkova.
And this is the part most people miss... Zvonareva has a special connection with Doha. During her prime years, she reached the final in 2008 and then went on to win the title in 2011.
