Tired of constantly charging your wallet tracker? Nomad has heard your woes and is back with a revamped tracking card promising a significant leap in battery life. I'm talking about the new Tracking Card Pro, designed to slip into your wallet or billfold and keep tabs on your valuables.
Andrew Liszewski, a seasoned tech reporter since 2006, has the inside scoop on this gadget.
The headline feature? The Tracking Card Pro boasts an impressive battery life of up to 16 months on a single charge. This is a massive upgrade from the standard version, which taps out at around five months. You can snag one now from Nomad's online store for $39 β a $10 premium over the older model. But hey, if you're buying for yourself and a loved one, a two-pack gets you a 10% discount!
However, the Tracking Card Pro isn't without its trade-offs. To accommodate the beefier battery, it's a bit thicker, measuring 2.5mm compared to the standard card's 1.7mm. But don't worry, it's still significantly slimmer than Apple's AirTags, which clock in at 8mm. The Pro version is also a touch heavier, weighing in at 15 grams, thanks to its polycarbonate body and exposed aluminum edges.
Functionality remains consistent with its predecessor. It seamlessly integrates with Apple's Find My network, allowing you to locate your wallet with ease. It also triggers audible alerts when you're within 150 feet of the card. Plus, it supports wireless charging, and while it lacks built-in magnets, it has enough metal to stick to MagSafe or Qi2-compatible magnetic charging pads.
Longer battery life is a game-changer, especially for those of us who are perpetually forgetting to charge our devices.
But here's where it gets controversial...
Pebblebee recently announced its Card 5 wallet tracker, and it might give Nomad's new offering a run for its money. It's priced at $34.99, is even thinner at 1.74mm, and supports both Apple's Find My and Google's Find Hub networks. And the kicker? It boasts up to 18 months of battery life!
What do you think? Is the extended battery life of the Nomad Tracking Card Pro enough to sway you, or are you leaning towards the Pebblebee Card 5? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
