Mötley Crüe's 'Live Wire' EP Returns! 45th Anniversary Vinyl & Tour News (2026)

Get ready to rock! Heavy metal icons Mötley Crüe are unleashing a special treat for their fans on Record Store Day, April 18, 2026. But here's the twist: it's a blast from the past! The band is releasing a limited-edition EP titled 'Live Wire', marking the 45th anniversary of their iconic career.

This isn't just any ordinary re-release. The 'Live Wire' EP, originally a radio-only promo from 1981, has been out of print for nearly half a century! Now, it's making a comeback with a brand-new cover art design and a 12-inch color vinyl format. A true collector's item for die-hard fans.

Side A:
1. The title track, 'Live Wire', is a high-energy anthem that has become a staple in the band's live performances.
2. 'Take Me To The Top' is an upbeat, anthemic song that showcases the band's signature sound.

Side B:
1. 'Merry-Go-Round' takes listeners on an emotional journey, with a powerful message. And this is where it gets personal... Bassist Nikki Sixx revealed in 2019 that the song is about his experiences with domestic violence as a child, drawing from his turbulent relationship with his mother and stepfathers.

The single 'Live Wire' was first released in 1982, but its origins go back to the band's debut album, 'Too Fast For Love'. This album had a unique journey, initially released independently in 1981 before being remixed and re-released by Elektra in 1982, propelling Mötley Crüe into the spotlight.

And now, the band is gearing up for a massive tour, 'The Return Of Carnival Of Sins', celebrating both the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking 2005-2006 tour and their 45th anniversary as a band. Kicking off in July 2026, this 33-city tour promises an epic experience with supporting acts Extreme and Tesla.

Mötley Crüe is also giving back to the community. They've announced that $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the After School Arts Program (ASAP!), funding arts programs for youth.

But the road to this celebration hasn't been without its challenges. In 2024, frontman Vince Neil suffered a series of strokes, leading to the postponement of their Las Vegas residency. The band initially cited a 'medical procedure' as the reason, but the full story was revealed later by Neil himself.

Controversy alert: Some fans might wonder why the band didn't provide more transparency about Vince's health issues at the time. Was it a strategic move to protect their image, or simply a matter of privacy? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
