The legendary Dutch symphonic metal band, AFTER FOREVER, is back with a bang! But this time, there's a twist. The band is reuniting for a Latin American tour, but without their iconic founder, Mark Jansen.
After a successful reunion for their 25th anniversary in 2025, AFTER FOREVER is ready to rock the stages again, this time in Latin America. The tour will commemorate the 26th anniversary of their debut album, 'Prison Of Desire', and the 25th anniversary of its follow-up, 'Decipher'. These albums are considered milestones in the symphonic metal genre, blending powerful vocals with intricate musical arrangements.
Here's the exciting part: the tour dates and venues! Produced by Top Link Music, the band will be performing in:
- São Paulo, Brazil, on October 16, 2026, at Tokio Marine Hall.
- Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 18, 2026, at Teatro Flores.
- Santiago, Chile, on October 20, 2026, at Teleton.
- Bogotá, Colombia, on October 22, 2026, at Royal Center.
The band's lineup for this tour is a mix of original members and new talent. Angel Wolf-Black from SHEWOLF will take on vocal duties, while original members Sander Gommans, Bas Maas, and Luuk Van Gerven will bring their signature sound on guitar, bass, and vocals. The talented Jeffrey Revet from STREAM OF PASSION will handle the keyboards, and Ariën Van Weesenbeek from EPICA will be behind the drums.
Sander Gommans reflects on the band's impact: "AFTER FOREVER's music has stood the test of time, and our early albums are still celebrated by fans worldwide. 'Prison Of Desire' and 'Decipher' were groundbreaking, and we're thrilled to celebrate their anniversaries in Latin America."
But here's where it gets emotional... Mark Jansen, the band's founder, won't be joining the tour. Jansen, who has a young child, shared his difficult decision: "I had to choose between touring and being a present parent. I'm sad to miss out, but I know it's the right call. I hope fans will still show their love and support to the band."
The reunion of AFTER FOREVER has been a topic of interest, especially since original singer Floor Jansen, now with NIGHTWISH, wasn't part of it. When asked, Mark Jansen revealed that Floor considered the chapter closed, and the band respected her decision. But, he added, "If we waited forever, the chance might be gone."
The band's Latin American fans have been eagerly awaiting their return since the Tilburg shows in 2025. This tour promises to be a celebration of AFTER FOREVER's iconic music and a testament to their enduring legacy.
And this is the part most people miss: the band's growth and maturity. Mark Jansen's comments on his relationship with Sander Gommans reveal a new level of understanding and humor, showing that time has healed old wounds.
So, will AFTER FOREVER's Latin American tour be a success without Mark Jansen? What do you think? Are you excited to see the band's new lineup in action? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
